IN 2009 TO OUR NUMEROUS PROGRAMS !!!

The Battered Women's' Shelter was ecstatic to hear that we were awarded with the Champion In Action Award from Charter One and Fox 8 News. During the first quarter for the year, we had numerous branches contact us wanting to help out.

The first group, seen in the top picture spent 4 hours at one of our shelters. They provider a ton of activities including face painting, nail painting, arts and craft activities, and to top it all off, a summer cookout for everyone!

Then a second group of volunteers (seen above ) from a different branch provided a hot home cooked meatloaf dinner for the women and children at a different shelter. Coincidently a child staying in the shelter was celebrating her 1st birthday so it worked out perfectly!

UPS SOLUTIONS

UPS Solutions was able to help give one of our shelter playgrounds a facelift! After working in the hot sun for over 5 hours, the group was able to pull weeds, clean up sticks, leaves, spread new playground mulch around the shelter play yard, and paint the in and outside of the fence! This group would not have been able to complete this project if it wasn't for the generosity of The Ronald McDonald Charities of North East Ohio. An award in the amount of $500 allowed UPS Solutions to purchase the needed supplies and provide the hard physical labor needed to make the playground a little nicer for the kids in shelter.
