Volunteer AND INTERN Opportunities
Battered Women's Shelter of Summit and Medina Counties
Community Outreach- Health Fair and Speaker's Bureau volunteers needed to educate the community about agency services, domestic abuse and sexual assault issues.
- Assist with delivery of donations (as needed).
- Fundraising volunteers needed in late winter to assist Resource Coordinator with our annual Reverse Raffle.
- Assist with newsletters, bulk mailings, and special projects (as needed).
- Child care volunteer needed at Community Outreach to supervise children while Step 3 mothers participate in workshops and educational programs.
Summit Crisis Center- Crisis hotline volunteers are needed.
- Answer business lines, do light clerical work, and let clients in/out of the shelter.
- Assist the Youth Advocate with holiday activities, birthday parties, and field trips for the children.
- Assist Youth Advocate with parent and child intakes.
- Supervise children while mothers attend support group, house meeting, and parenting support group in the shelter.
- Movers needed to assist with large item donations (as needed).
- Organizer needed to assist the Facility Coordinator with inventory management and household projects.
- Handy person needed to make small repairs.
- Special skills are welcome, and may be discussed with the Volunteer Coordinator.
- Provide parenting classes for residents.
Summit Step 2 Shelter- Answer business lines, let clients in/out of the shelter, and assist with light clerical work.
- Assist Youth Advocate with holiday activities, birthday parties, and field trips for the children.
- Assist Youth Advocate with parent and child intakes.

Justice System Services (Summit and Medina Counties)- Volunteers needed Monday through Friday, business hours only.
- Provide support to survivors of domestic violence, stalking, and sexual assault throughout the legal process.
- Provide information about the justice system to victims seeking to exercise their rights.
- Help clients complete and file paperwork.
- Follow cases, check court dockets, and track outcomes.
- Respond to phone calls.
Medina Community Outreach- Light clerical work sending out thank you letters to donors, obtaining police reports, and photocopying and making brochures.
- Answer phones, light filing, and data entry.
- Pick up and deliver donations (as needed).
Medina Shelter
- Assist hotline and business lines and let clients in/out of the shelter.
- Assist with seasonal lawn mowing, leaf raking and snow removal.
- Organizer needed to assist the Facility Coordinator with inventory management and building upkeep projects.
- Assist the Youth Advocate with holiday activities, birthday parties, and field trips for the children.
- Assist the Youth Advocate with youth programming, and provide child care during support group, house meeting and parenting support group.
- Pick up and deliver donations (as needed).
- Answer crisis hotline.
- Provide parenting classes for residents.
